Menthe Tambuli is a simple curd based dish eaten with rice at the beginning of the meal.

It’s very easy to make with minimum ingredients like soaked methi seeds, coconut, green chillies, curd and salt. Sprouted methi seeds can also be used instead. Methi seeds are known for their cooling nature and this is one of the healthy ways to incorporate into your meal.

Ingredients

  • Methi seeds – 1 tbsp

  • Coconut – 1/4 cup (3 tbsp)

  • Green chillies – 1

  • Curd – 3/4 cup

  • Rock salt- as per taste

  • Tempering
  • Coconut oil or any oil – 2 tsp

  • Mustard seeds- 1 tsp

  • Red chillies or Sandige Mensau – 1

  • Hing- a pinch

  • Curry leaves – 4 to 5 chopped

Directions

  • Soak the methi seeds overnight or for at least 4 to 5 hours.
  • Toss the green chilly in Tadka kadai with minimum oil for 15 seconds. This is an optional step done to reduce the raw spiciness of the chillies.
  • In a mixer, grind together coconut, tossed chillies, soaked methi seeds and rock salt with water.
  • In a serving bowl, take curd and add the ground mix. Mix well.
  • Finish it with a tempering. You can additionally add fried and crushed sandige menasu | baluka in the end.
