Ginna is one of the earliest memory of a dessert. The nutrient rich fat milk from a cow that has just given birth is the core ingredient of Ginna. Having lots of cattle at my place, Ginna was one of the most frequently made dessert.
Ginna is a simple dessert made with fat milk from the cow that is fetched within first three days of the birth of its calf. Milk was fetched after leaving enough milk for the cattle.
Milk is mixed with sugar as per taste. It is then added with cardamom seeds, ginger bits, raisins and cashews. (dry fruits of your choice). Milk mixture is then poured into moulds and steamed for 15 mins. What you get is a soft gooey silky tastiest dessert Ginna!!
